Travel Demand Modelling
An understanding of the demand impacts of a transportation project or policy is a key element to the decision-making process, both in itself and as a way to understand the wider costs and benefits.
We have a wealth of experience in the development, application and interpretation of travel demand models for use across a range of modes and contexts, ranging from multi-modal network-based models to unimode spreadsheet-based tools.
In particular, we can advise on the use and application of the Greater Golden Horseshoe Model v4 (GGHMv4), used by several Toronto area agencies, and similar models, such as the GTA family of models developed by the Data Management Group at the University of Toronto.
Business Cases are increasingly used within the industry to set out the case for investment. They focus on the why and how, setting out the benefits and costs of the project or policy, alongside a narrative on the financial impact and delivery approach.
We have the experience to lead and guide the complete Business Case process, framing the policy objectives and rationale, and the economic and financial impact. We can work with experts in construction and operations to set out the delivery approach.

Rail and transit project development
The development of rail and transit projects needs to ensure the holistic integration of a range of disciplines to meet the project and stakeholder objectives. It is all too easy to have silo-based working that fails to integrate through the project development process, culminating in a sub-optimal solution.
We help clients integrate the project development process, both from a project objective lens (what does success look like?) and a project management lens (what are the processes needed to achieve success?).
Setting out a policy framework for transportation is central to achieving the objectives set and from which transportation planning can be most effective.
We can help develop policy, work with clients and stakeholders, and work from policy to plan the evolution of transportation and related planning systems (notably land use).

Project management
Overarching any endeavour is the need for robust project management to ensure the timely and efficient production of the end deliverable. However, in the context of often fuzzy transportation planning projects, it is important to recognize the additional aspect of directing the work to ensure the overall deliverable is fit for purpose.
We can set out a project management and process framework for transportation planning projects, and lead the technical analysis, culminating in a robust deliverable.
